Study ranks Delaware No. 1 for work environment, Louisiana last

BOSTON --Delaware ranked first and Louisiana last in a University of Massachusetts study that tried to measure where workers are treated best, based on factors including job opportunities, job quality and workplace fairness.
Rounding out the top five best states for workers were, respectively, New Hampshire, Minnesota, Vermont and Iowa. After Louisiana, the next-lowest states were Texas and Arkansas, along with three states that fared slightly better in a tie: Mississippi, South Carolina and Utah.
Massachusetts tied with Hawaii for 18th, with the Bay State hurt in part by its high cost of living and large pool of workers who wish to work full-time but are stuck with part-time jobs.
The "Decent Work in America" study, released Tuesday by UMass Amherst's Political Economy Research Institute, was based on a "work environment index" that compared states based on 2004 data. The data covered factors including average pay; job opportunities; employee benefits; percentage of low-income workers; fair treatment between genders; and ability for employees to unionize.
Those factors were used in ranking states on a scale of 1 to 100 for job opportunities, job quality and workplace fairness. Those three numbers were averaged to determine an overall score, with Delaware posting an 89 and Louisiana a 31.
Texas' next-to-last ranking drew criticism from the state's governor's office and from a Texas economic development official, who said the abundance of small states near the top of the rankings indicates the study criteria may be too narrow.
"The top five states represent states with fairly small state economies that are not nearly as broad and complex as ours," said Carlton Schwab, president and chief executive of the Texas Economic Development Council, a private nonprofit association of economic development professionals. "They have a fraction of the economic activity that we have in our state. Oftentimes, it may not be a fair comparison."
Schwab also said Texas typically ranks highly by other economic measures, including venture capital funding and business startups.
Kathy Walt, a spokeswoman for Texas Gov. Rick Perry, said, "This is a survey done by a university with a very strong liberal bias, that has driven a survey to fit its world view.
"Texas has created 200,000 net new jobs over the past two years because of its very strong tax climate, its strong business climate, model tort reform in the nation and its educated work force."
Brigitte Nieland, a spokeswoman at the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, declined to comment on her state's last-place ranking, and messages left with Louisiana Economic Development, the state's development agency, were not immediately returned Tuesday.
The study's authors, who expect to update the rankings annually, said their findings were based on the first index to evaluate states' treatment of workers rather than their business climates.
States ranking high for work environments generally enjoyed strong economic growth and low poverty rates, with the reverse true for those ranking low.
"This suggests that anti-poverty strategies focused on creating decent jobs is viable as well as desirable, a finding that is especially pertinent in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, whose impact was devastating on the poor in New Orleans," the authors said.
One of the study's authors, Robert Pollin, noted Massachusetts typically ranks higher in most economic studies than it did in the workplace environment study. He attributed the result in part to the state's large number of part-time workers unable to find full-time employment, and a high cost of living that offsets the state's high wages.
While the Bay State ranked 10th in the nation in workplace fairness, it was 25th for job opportunities and 27th for job quality.
"Massachusetts is not doing disastrously by these other measures, but once we account for the cost of living and the tight labor market, it's not doing that well," Pollin said.

A Comparison of Solaris, Linux, and FreeBSD Kernels
Conclusions
Solaris, FreeBSD, and Linux are obviously benefiting from each other. With Solaris going open source, I expect this to continue at a faster rate. My impression is that change is most rapid in Linux. The benefits of this are that new technology has a quick incorporation into the system. Unfortunately, the documentation (and possibly some robustness) sometimes lags behind. Linux has many developers, and sometimes it shows. FreeBSD has been around (in some sense) the longest of the three systems. Solaris has its basis in a combination of BSD Unix and AT&T Bell Labs Unix. Solaris uses more data abstraction layering, and generally could support additional features quite easily because of this. However, most of the layering in the kernel is undocumented. Probably, source code access will change this.
A brief example to highlight differences is page fault handling. In Solaris, when a page fault occurs, the code starts in a platform-specific trap handler, then calls a generic as_fault() routine. This routine determines the segment where the fault occurred and calls a "segment driver" to handle the fault. The segment driver calls into file system code. The file system code calls into the device driver to bring in the page. When the page-in is complete, the segment driver calls the HAT layer to update page table entries (or their equivalent). On Linux, when a page fault occurs, the kernel calls the code to handle the fault. You are immediately into platform-specific code. This means the fault handling code can be quicker in Linux, but the Linux code may not be as easily extensible or ported.
Kernel visibility and debugging tools are critical to get a correct understanding of system behavior. Yes, you can read the source code, but I maintain that you can easily misread the code. Having tools available to test your hypothesis about how the code works is invaluable. In this respect, I see Solaris with kmdb, mdb, and DTrace as a clear winner. I have been "reverse engineering" Solaris for years. I find that I can usually answer a question by using the tools faster than I can answer the same question by reading source code. With Linux, I don't have as much choice for this. FreeBSD allows use of gdb on kernel crash dumps. gdb can set breakpoints, single step, and examine and modify data and code. On Linux, this is also possible once you download and install the tools.

十幾年前，台大大論社有過一段很有理想性，大意如下的招生廣告：「面對不公不義，沈默就是暴力。」十幾年來，這句話總偶爾還會飄過腦際，我總是覺得這句話應該曾是你們——所謂的學運世代——的自我期勉。至於我們這些天真的以為人有義務為改造社會奉獻一點小小的心力的小小石頭，只是你們仕途上的墊腳石；只是你們拿麥克風發表論述時的小道具；只是在你們的號召下，在各種校園選舉或校外運動中，發傳單、搬桌子、拉布條或徹夜畫海報的免費苦力。不過，這無所謂，基於想要達到的目標，我想，很多小小石頭都不介意成為你們的踏腳石，不過我並沒有想到，只想當建國大道上的小石頭的我，居然也有必須要來實踐這句話的一天。
因為面對無恥，沈默就是幫兇。

我知道你們邏輯都不太好，思考事情多半「非A即B」，所以，請不要抹黑說我反對「反省」，也不要貼我標籤說我是挺扁派，或是站大老邊，或什麼保守派。重點是，這個運動由你們來號召，「反省」顯得既荒謬又廉價。也或者，既然說要反省，那我們就把話說明白一點，老人絕對是該檢討，但是，最需要反省的恐怕是你們。
我相信所有的人民包括藍綠，都對執政的現況感到無力也覺得失望，不管是在民生政策上或是國家定位上。但是，你們，一大堆都站在「重要戰鬥位置」的人，難道都沒有責任嗎？都是老人的錯嗎？而你們難道不是這些「學壞了」的老人的幕僚或親信嗎？斷臂事件時，還知道要下台以示負責，怎麼老了之後，連肩膀都沒了？而主張「丟棄台獨黨綱，以顧選票」的人，居然有臉說「民進黨執政、起家的本錢大幅流失」？你跟周守訓一樣弱智了嗎？而落選後，說要「選舉選到不知為何而戰，所以要認真反省，思考方向跟答案」的所謂新龍頭，思考了半年，想出來的答案，居然是大家再來搞個運動？網友說的對，真是活該落選！！
我真是不敢相信，你們到現在，玩的還是小時候搞學運那套。今天真有心反省，不是寫聲明、開記者會，叫大家來連署。搞個論壇，就是「結合各界發起運動，在自我反省後集體發聲」？你們是暴露狂嗎？而且，想也可以預見，論壇一定是找一群不怎麼從事學術生產的那堆自詡為論述專家學者、博士研究員、運動者、評論者執筆，然後發表一堆既對現實之執政困境無解，也對重建本黨價值無用，賣弄術語，卻又不夠格稱之為學術論文的論述專文。想也知道，就熱熱鬧鬧的在報上網上飆幾天，上幾天call-in，然後部落格到處串聯，搞出一種新生代有良知的「菁英」都正在支持你們反省大改革的「風尚」。好像有你們，台灣依然充滿希望一樣。唉，十幾年來，除了紙本刊物變成網上部落格外，我沒看到什麼不一樣。這樣不是反省，也不配叫運動，這叫作秀。
你們要怎麼回答網友問的「選周XX跟羅XX有什麼不一樣？」難道交一份反省證明書嗎？還是給他一本論壇專文選集？
你們不是不知道，國民黨留下的爛帳一大堆，要執政，就得要收拾很多殘局，這些都是非承擔不可的責任，不能逃避。今天老人的表現是失了方向，而你們這些佔據重要論述位置、處身決策中心的本國未來棟樑的反應，居然不是共同承擔，而是火速劃清界限，以求自保。那麼，我們這些小石頭怎麼能夠期待你們這些人有肩膀當什麼新龍頭，新生代接班人，去扛起處境越來越艱難的民進黨（或台灣或中華民國）？你們不喊還好，一喊就讓人看破：你們真的毫無反省的決心，這個「運動」，只是要選舉的人騙選票，不選舉的人要逼宮。
不是我反對「反省」，親愛的學運領袖們，你們很聰明的製造出讓黨內的老人「不響應也不行」的尷尬陷阱，逼所有的人都得往下跳，以成就你們自己的光環。你們清新、有才幹、有理想，要改革（的樣子），你們代表民進黨新生代的良心，至於執政的爛帳，要不通通推到總統身上、要不就賴給院長，而你們呢？責任撇得一乾二淨！今天，拒絕連署的立委或黨工，可能馬上就會被貼上「反改革、不反省」的標籤，甚至還可能會被批成「保皇派」。這麼多年來，怎麼你們的操作手法連一點長進都沒有？十幾年前，我可能會真心響應，現在，我只想很不屑的說「Tout finit par des chansons！」

我知道你們很多人自小就忙著搞運動，所以，當然無能為國家政策貢獻什麼方針。可是，不提建國大願景，不提國家主體性，至少，反對特權、壟斷、關說、貪污、包工程等等陋習，應該是頭腦再簡單的政客也知道，這是最直接的改革。只要有做一點點，人民的感覺就會不一樣，就算你位低無權無能，至少，不收賄、不包工程、不囂張總做得到吧？結果，你們做了什麼？某部會的部長辦公室，先塞滿該派系的眷屬；三十歲的議員一下鄉，左派理想馬上就在紅包跟酒家中淹沒；更不用說讓外遇去承包工程，完完全全不知避嫌；而比較長進的，宣稱最愛讀書，一心只想做學術的人，不是忙著上call-in，就是當算命仙；去學校或是研究單位卡位的，說不屑搶世俗權勢，只忙著搞運動，文章散見各報，就是沒看到學術發表（那我繳稅養你在中研院幹嘛？）；老國民黨學者學官兩棲，還知道要低調，不要去提升等以犯眾怒，而你們呢？長期處在政治環境，我對政客的期望是比一般人低的，所以，我的失望也就相對來得少，再者，作為一個台獨份子（這是我唯一願意保留的標籤），我從來也不曾期待美麗島律師團世代對於建國的主張與想像符合我的理想；而多年的小道具經驗，我其實也知道你們已經離你們當初搞運動時不只五十步遠了，只不過，我沒想到你們的大膽程度恐怕連老國民黨官僚都要自嘆不如！如果說，我們的老人到五十歲才開始墮落，那麼，太早取得權力的你們，簡直是三十歲就開始腐化。
其實，大多數的台灣人都可以體諒我們剛執政，年紀小，沒經驗，但是，無能不賢也就罷了，眼高手低也就罷了，至少也要留點道德教養吧？（對你們來說，這是很落伍的東西了！）反國民黨威權，當然正當，但是這可不表示你們可以連基本禮貌都沒有。國民黨舊官僚再該改革，也不是說你們就可以對跟你父親一樣老的官僚盛氣凌人、頤始氣指；老說小時候受到政治迫害，所以才會一直進出學校，畢不了業，明明政治因素只有一回，剩兩次叫做書沒讀好，連施明德都沒有把自己悲壯化到這種程度；學術發表量低，進不了台大，居然還有臉在BBS上喊，都是因為小時候基於正義，獻身民主運動，所以才被貼上了政治標籤！喔，偉大的學運領袖們，夠了，這是二十一世紀的台灣，不是七零年代耶！連你們同輩的台獨聯盟人士都進得了各知名學府任教ㄟ，你們不都是擅長反省的左派菁英嗎？怎麼都是反省別人而已呢？再者，某小WUFI教授說的好，自己做的決定，就要自己承擔後果，又沒人拿刀架著你們，要你們為民主獻身！
無能不賢，至少要有德。這樣小道具去拉票時，至少還能理直氣壯的說，「我們這個候選人雖然沒有大不了的才幹，至少有道德人品。」結果呢？某派系著名的「不可搞亂」內規，光明正大的當笑話般厚顏地到處流傳，嘿，這年頭可沒有媒妁之言，父母許婚這種事喔。結果，現代陳世美好幾個就罷了，夫人還用「女性主義解放者」的姿態，上週刊大肆宣揚怎麼介入別人家庭，並傳為美談。對比張俊雄立委的case，雖是那種時代不可免的悲劇，但他也承擔被世人痛罵三十年的代價啊。張俊雄先生還真生不逢時啊！連黃義交都比你們倒楣！我並不清高，這類評論是那些女性主義者的專業，而且你們的外遇事件，男不俊女不美，也不如影劇八卦。但是，作為一個業務員，我認為要求產品品質，並不過份。
我們的人生，恐怕可以說有三分之一以上的時間都在打選戰，其實我們都心知肚明，台灣人民不管藍綠，大都很寬容（或者該說冷漠？），他們對所謂的論述願景大道理的興趣並不高，人民要的也不過就安居樂業、政治清明而已。所以，失落的民進黨該何去何從？這個問題沒有很難，不必又勞動一堆學者教授放下工作來幫我們重建什麼核心價值。《達文西密碼》中，那位主教Aringarosa 曾被問過兩次這個問題：”My Lord, where do you go from here？”第一次，已經完全迷失方向的他，回答梵諦岡人士的答案是 ”Paris”，他以為只有找到聖杯，他的教會才能得到救贖，而為了找到聖杯，他連主教的戒指都可以拿去交換，連靈魂都賣了的主教，還能談什麼救贖？第二次，在醫院，歷經魔鬼種種考驗而覺醒的他，又得回他的戒指。再一次面對這個問題時，他終於能笑了：” A little faith can do wonders.”
只有真心的懺悔，上帝才會把你失去的東西再交給你。如果說老人該反省，那你們就更該懺悔。民進黨該何去何從？把你們拿去跟魔鬼交換的靈魂撿回來就行了，A little faith 就夠了。

什麼叫做去找回民進黨的核心價值？祂沒有消失，只是你背離信仰，而不是祂不見了。不用浪費資源搞論壇想論述或再來一個大串聯了，這種「運動」，只會讓真正做運動的人更覺不堪；如果你們的反省只是寫寫連署書，那麼，這個黨就會永遠是站在十字路口上找不到方向的小島，而不是歷經crucifixion之後，得到復活與永生的福爾摩沙。
當Silas跑到St. Sulpice 教堂，打破地板，取出有刻字的小石碑時，那是上帝給他的警告：”HITHERTO SHALT THOU COME, BUT NO FURTHER.” 但是，他沒有理會，終在魔鬼的引誘下走向敗亡。當警告的鐘聲已經響起，魔鬼當起神父來，恐怕連馬基維利都會告訴你，覆亡叫做活該。
後記：
最後，不幸看到這篇令人「見笑」的「家醜」事件的人，千萬拜託，不要又給我新標籤。我拒絕接受什麼有理想、清新的幼童軍等等令人作噁的支持；我也拒絕接受「Anti-反省派」或是選老人邊站的指控；至於用「藉此打知名度為下一步鋪路」以轉移焦點的選舉式抹黑，也拜託省省；還有不用去問這個小道具是誰，因為「國王的新衣」中，那個小孩根本就不是主角；至於各位自以為很偉大的左派學者，不要對號入座；另外，千萬不要問（勸）我去台聯，我不拜投機鬼。
我最討厭寫文章出風頭拿麥克風上媒體，今天，害我要拋頭露面的原因是你們實在敗德到超過小道具能夠忍耐的限度，賣淫的人罵別人是妓女，而社會還要感謝你們充滿正義；（請你們那些偉大的女性主義友人們不要趁機罵我污名化妓女）夠了，我不想每天上教堂時，還要多浪費十分鐘為我的懦弱與沈默去跟神父懺悔。
我想，很多人將會很快的跟我劃清界限，我也會很識相的不再在許多人的生命裡現身。我全年無休也無償的當義工多年，套句老台獨的話：我沒欠這個黨喔。
雖然大家都不免會做點白爛事，（不然神父是幹嘛用的呢？）但是，正常人總還是會教小孩要做一個有道德的人吧？
我非常實際，所以非常害怕小小花某日發現她最喜歡的貓阿姨是壞人。
不用講什麼相信民主，或是相信人民的力量之類的文宣口號，也不要告訴我李敖或李登輝有瞎米高見，都是唱的。如果連我這種全世界最討厭小孩的人都會害怕，不知道該如何面對小孩的疑問時，這個政治競技場上需要的，恐怕不只是反省或改革或遠見，而是道德。
不想做堂堂正正的中國人的話，也要做正正當當的台灣人吧。不要老想著瞎米歷史定位，那是上帝的事情。
如果連我這種馬基維力幼童軍都老到了想起道德這麼落伍的價值時，大概離末日不遠了。

我知道你們邏輯都不太好，思考事情多半「非A即B」，所以，請不要抹黑說我反對「反省」，也不要貼我標籤說我是挺扁派，或是站大老邊，或什麼保守派。重點是，這個運動由你們來號召，「反省」顯得既荒謬又廉價。也或者，既然說要反省，那我們就把話說明白一點，老人絕對是該檢討，但是，最需要反省的恐怕是你們。
我相信所有的人民包括藍綠，都對執政的現況感到無力也覺得失望，不管是在民生政策上或是國家定位上。但是，你們，一大堆都站在「重要戰鬥位置」的人，難道都沒有責任嗎？都是老人的錯嗎？而你們難道不是這些「學壞了」的老人的幕僚或親信嗎？斷臂事件時，還知道要下台以示負責，怎麼老了之後，連肩膀都沒了？而主張「丟棄台獨黨綱，以顧選票」的人，居然有臉說「民進黨執政、起家的本錢大幅流失」？你跟周守訓一樣弱智了嗎？而落選後，說要「選舉選到不知為何而戰，所以要認真反省，思考方向跟答案」的所謂新龍頭，思考了半年，想出來的答案，居然是大家再來搞個運動？網友說的對，真是活該落選！！
我真是不敢相信，你們到現在，玩的還是小時候搞學運那套。今天真有心反省，不是寫聲明、開記者會，叫大家來連署。搞個論壇，就是「結合各界發起運動，在自我反省後集體發聲」？你們是暴露狂嗎？而且，想也可以預見，論壇一定是找一群不怎麼從事學術生產的那堆自詡為論述專家學者、博士研究員、運動者、評論者執筆，然後發表一堆既對現實之執政困境無解，也對重建本黨價值無用，賣弄術語，卻又不夠格稱之為學術論文的論述專文。想也知道，就熱熱鬧鬧的在報上網上飆幾天，上幾天call-in，然後部落格到處串聯，搞出一種新生代有良知的「菁英」都正在支持你們反省大改革的「風尚」。好像有你們，台灣依然充滿希望一樣。唉，十幾年來，除了紙本刊物變成網上部落格外，我沒看到什麼不一樣。這樣不是反省，也不配叫運動，這叫作秀。
你們要怎麼回答網友問的「選周XX跟羅XX有什麼不一樣？」難道交一份反省證明書嗎？還是給他一本論壇專文選集？
你們不是不知道，國民黨留下的爛帳一大堆，要執政，就得要收拾很多殘局，這些都是非承擔不可的責任，不能逃避。今天老人的表現是失了方向，而你們這些佔據重要論述位置、處身決策中心的本國未來棟樑的反應，居然不是共同承擔，而是火速劃清界限，以求自保。那麼，我們這些小石頭怎麼能夠期待你們這些人有肩膀當什麼新龍頭，新生代接班人，去扛起處境越來越艱難的民進黨（或台灣或中華民國）？你們不喊還好，一喊就讓人看破：你們真的毫無反省的決心，這個「運動」，只是要選舉的人騙選票，不選舉的人要逼宮。
不是我反對「反省」，親愛的學運領袖們，你們很聰明的製造出讓黨內的老人「不響應也不行」的尷尬陷阱，逼所有的人都得往下跳，以成就你們自己的光環。你們清新、有才幹、有理想，要改革（的樣子），你們代表民進黨新生代的良心，至於執政的爛帳，要不通通推到總統身上、要不就賴給院長，而你們呢？責任撇得一乾二淨！今天，拒絕連署的立委或黨工，可能馬上就會被貼上「反改革、不反省」的標籤，甚至還可能會被批成「保皇派」。這麼多年來，怎麼你們的操作手法連一點長進都沒有？十幾年前，我可能會真心響應，現在，我只想很不屑的說「Tout finit par des chansons！」
A little faith can do wonders
我知道你們很多人自小就忙著搞運動，所以，當然無能為國家政策貢獻什麼方針。可是，不提建國大願景，不提國家主體性，至少，反對特權、壟斷、關說、貪污、包工程等等陋習，應該是頭腦再簡單的政客也知道，這是最直接的改革。只要有做一點點，人民的感覺就會不一樣，就算你位低無權無能，至少，不收賄、不包工程、不囂張總做得到吧？結果，你們做了什麼？某部會的部長辦公室，先塞滿該派系的眷屬；三十歲的議員一下鄉，左派理想馬上就在紅包跟酒家中淹沒；更不用說讓外遇去承包工程，完完全全不知避嫌；而比較長進的，宣稱最愛讀書，一心只想做學術的人，不是忙著上call-in，就是當算命仙；去學校或是研究單位卡位的，說不屑搶世俗權勢，只忙著搞運動，文章散見各報，就是沒看到學術發表（那我繳稅養你在中研院幹嘛？）；老國民黨學者學官兩棲，還知道要低調，不要去提升等以犯眾怒，而你們呢？長期處在政治環境，我對政客的期望是比一般人低的，所以，我的失望也就相對來得少，再者，作為一個台獨份子（這是我唯一願意保留的標籤），我從來也不曾期待美麗島律師團世代對於建國的主張與想像符合我的理想；而多年的小道具經驗，我其實也知道你們已經離你們當初搞運動時不只五十步遠了，只不過，我沒想到你們的大膽程度恐怕連老國民黨官僚都要自嘆不如！如果說，我們的老人到五十歲才開始墮落，那麼，太早取得權力的你們，簡直是三十歲就開始腐化。
其實，大多數的台灣人都可以體諒我們剛執政，年紀小，沒經驗，但是，無能不賢也就罷了，眼高手低也就罷了，至少也要留點道德教養吧？（對你們來說，這是很落伍的東西了！）反國民黨威權，當然正當，但是這可不表示你們可以連基本禮貌都沒有。國民黨舊官僚再該改革，也不是說你們就可以對跟你父親一樣老的官僚盛氣凌人、頤始氣指；老說小時候受到政治迫害，所以才會一直進出學校，畢不了業，明明政治因素只有一回，剩兩次叫做書沒讀好，連施明德都沒有把自己悲壯化到這種程度；學術發表量低，進不了台大，居然還有臉在BBS上喊，都是因為小時候基於正義，獻身民主運動，所以才被貼上了政治標籤！喔，偉大的學運領袖們，夠了，這是二十一世紀的台灣，不是七零年代耶！連你們同輩的台獨聯盟人士都進得了各知名學府任教ㄟ，你們不都是擅長反省的左派菁英嗎？怎麼都是反省別人而已呢？再者，某小WUFI教授說的好，自己做的決定，就要自己承擔後果，又沒人拿刀架著你們，要你們為民主獻身！
無能不賢，至少要有德。這樣小道具去拉票時，至少還能理直氣壯的說，「我們這個候選人雖然沒有大不了的才幹，至少有道德人品。」結果呢？某派系著名的「不可搞亂」內規，光明正大的當笑話般厚顏地到處流傳，嘿，這年頭可沒有媒妁之言，父母許婚這種事喔。結果，現代陳世美好幾個就罷了，夫人還用「女性主義解放者」的姿態，上週刊大肆宣揚怎麼介入別人家庭，並傳為美談。對比張俊雄立委的case，雖是那種時代不可免的悲劇，但他也承擔被世人痛罵三十年的代價啊。張俊雄先生還真生不逢時啊！連黃義交都比你們倒楣！我並不清高，這類評論是那些女性主義者的專業，而且你們的外遇事件，男不俊女不美，也不如影劇八卦。但是，作為一個業務員，我認為要求產品品質，並不過份。
我們的人生，恐怕可以說有三分之一以上的時間都在打選戰，其實我們都心知肚明，台灣人民不管藍綠，大都很寬容（或者該說冷漠？），他們對所謂的論述願景大道理的興趣並不高，人民要的也不過就安居樂業、政治清明而已。所以，失落的民進黨該何去何從？這個問題沒有很難，不必又勞動一堆學者教授放下工作來幫我們重建什麼核心價值。《達文西密碼》中，那位主教Aringarosa 曾被問過兩次這個問題：”My Lord, where do you go from here？”第一次，已經完全迷失方向的他，回答梵諦岡人士的答案是 ”Paris”，他以為只有找到聖杯，他的教會才能得到救贖，而為了找到聖杯，他連主教的戒指都可以拿去交換，連靈魂都賣了的主教，還能談什麼救贖？第二次，在醫院，歷經魔鬼種種考驗而覺醒的他，又得回他的戒指。再一次面對這個問題時，他終於能笑了：” A little faith can do wonders.”
只有真心的懺悔，上帝才會把你失去的東西再交給你。如果說老人該反省，那你們就更該懺悔。民進黨該何去何從？把你們拿去跟魔鬼交換的靈魂撿回來就行了，A little faith 就夠了。

什麼叫做去找回民進黨的核心價值？祂沒有消失，只是你背離信仰，而不是祂不見了。不用浪費資源搞論壇想論述或再來一個大串聯了，這種「運動」，只會讓真正做運動的人更覺不堪；如果你們的反省只是寫寫連署書，那麼，這個黨就會永遠是站在十字路口上找不到方向的小島，而不是歷經crucifixion之後，得到復活與永生的福爾摩沙。
當Silas跑到St. Sulpice 教堂，打破地板，取出有刻字的小石碑時，那是上帝給他的警告：”HITHERTO SHALT THOU COME, BUT NO FURTHER.” 但是，他沒有理會，終在魔鬼的引誘下走向敗亡。當警告的鐘聲已經響起，魔鬼當起神父來，恐怕連馬基維利都會告訴你，覆亡叫做活該。
後記：
最後，不幸看到這篇令人「見笑」的「家醜」事件的人，千萬拜託，不要又給我新標籤。我拒絕接受什麼有理想、清新的幼童軍等等令人作噁的支持；我也拒絕接受「Anti-反省派」或是選老人邊站的指控；至於用「藉此打知名度為下一步鋪路」以轉移焦點的選舉式抹黑，也拜託省省；還有不用去問這個小道具是誰，因為「國王的新衣」中，那個小孩根本就不是主角；至於各位自以為很偉大的左派學者，不要對號入座；另外，千萬不要問（勸）我去台聯，我不拜投機鬼。
我最討厭寫文章出風頭拿麥克風上媒體，今天，害我要拋頭露面的原因是你們實在敗德到超過小道具能夠忍耐的限度，賣淫的人罵別人是妓女，而社會還要感謝你們充滿正義；（請你們那些偉大的女性主義友人們不要趁機罵我污名化妓女）夠了，我不想每天上教堂時，還要多浪費十分鐘為我的懦弱與沈默去跟神父懺悔。
我想，很多人將會很快的跟我劃清界限，我也會很識相的不再在許多人的生命裡現身。我全年無休也無償的當義工多年，套句老台獨的話：我沒欠這個黨喔。
雖然大家都不免會做點白爛事，（不然神父是幹嘛用的呢？）但是，正常人總還是會教小孩要做一個有道德的人吧？
我非常實際，所以非常害怕小小花某日發現她最喜歡的貓阿姨是壞人。
不用講什麼相信民主，或是相信人民的力量之類的文宣口號，也不要告訴我李敖或李登輝有瞎米高見，都是唱的。如果連我這種全世界最討厭小孩的人都會害怕，不知道該如何面對小孩的疑問時，這個政治競技場上需要的，恐怕不只是反省或改革或遠見，而是道德。
不想做堂堂正正的中國人的話，也要做正正當當的台灣人吧。不要老想著瞎米歷史定位，那是上帝的事情。
如果連我這種馬基維力幼童軍都老到了想起道德這麼落伍的價值時，大概離末日不遠了。

Oracle Announces the Acquisition of Open Source Software Company, Innobase - Oracle Plans to Increase Support for Open Source Software
October 7, 2005, Oracle Corporation announced the acquisition of Finland-based Innobase OY. Innobase is the developer of discrete transactional database technology, InnoDB, that is distributed under an open source license. "Oracle has long been a supporter of open source software such as Linux and Apache," said Charles Rozwat, Oracle's Executive Vice President in charge of Database and Middleware Technology. "Innobase is an innovative small company that develops open source database technology. Oracle intends to continue developing the InnoDB technology and expand our commitment to open source software. Oracle has already developed and contributed an open source clustered file system to Linux. We expect to make additional contributions in the future."
InnoDB is not a standalone database product: it is distributed as a part of the MySQL database. InnoDB's contractual relationship with MySQL comes up for renewal next year. Oracle fully expects to negotiate an extension of that relationship. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
